A repair café is a place where people bring broken things instead of throwing them away, and leave with them working again. Volunteers who understand electricity, sewing or bicycles sit at the tables, and the visitor stays to watch while a kettle or a jacket is taken apart and mended. Nothing at all is charged for the work, although most cafés keep a box on the counter for donations, and the coffee is usually part of the arrangement.
